Remembering Ronald Reagan

Abortion is advocated only by persons who have themselves been born.

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.

Facts are stubborn things.

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

Freedom is one of the deepest and noblest aspirations of the human spirit.

How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin.

I call upon the scientific community in our country, those who gave us nuclear weapons, to turn their great talents now to the cause of mankind and world peace: to give us the means of rendering these nuclear weapons impotent and obsolete.

If you're afraid of the future, then get out of the way, stand aside. The people of this country are ready to move again.

Politics is not a bad profession. If you succeed there are many rewards, if you disgrace yourself you can always write a book.

The best minds are not in government. If any were, business would hire them away.

The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

The ultimate determinant in the struggle now going on for the world will not be bombs and rockets but a test of wills and ideas-a trial of spiritual resolve: the values we hold, the beliefs we cherish and the ideals to which we are dedicated.

There are no great limits to growth because there are no limits of human intelligence, imagination, and wonder.

Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying.


To sit back hoping that someday, someway, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last--but eat you he will.

History teaches that wars begin when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap.

My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you I just signed legislation which outlaws Russia forever. The bombing begins in five minutes.

Peace is the highest aspiration of the American People. We will negotiate for it, sacrifice for it, we will never surrender for it, --Now or ever!

We have every right to dream heroic dreams because after all we are Americans.

We in government should learn to look at our country with the eyes of the entrepreneur, seeing possibilities where others see only problems.


A leader, once convinced a particular course of action is the right one, must have the determination to stick with it and be undaunted when the going gets rough.

We did not seek the role of leadership that has been thrust upon us. But whether we like it or not, the events of our time demand America's participation.

The house we hope to build is not for my generation but for yours. It is your future that matters. And I hope that when you are my age, you will be able to say as I have been able to say: We lived in freedom. We lived lives that were a statement -- not an apology.


General Secretary Gorbachev, if you seek peace, if you seek prosperity for the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, if you seek liberalization: Come here to this gate!

Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate!

Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!

Ronald Reagan truly was the Great Communicator! If George W. Bush would/could articulate his beliefs and goals the way Reagan could and did the future of America and the world would be much brighter.

Reagan was malined the same way Bush was in his day.

I was still a Dem--horors!--when Reagan was president and I remember the hate thrown at him. The difference is that Reagan knew how to combat it; Bush doesn't, and that's a shame.

Don't feel to sorry for Bush. Like Reagan he won twice.

And thats all that matters. We are winning on the policy. We are going to elect another Republican President next year.

And maybe get back the senate too. Its a good time to be a Republican.
